I HAve spine

– Resistance Embodied in Leather
Latex polymer paint and ink, metal studs on leather, created in 2019

I Have Spine stands as a fierce homage to punk culture—unapologetically bold, intricately hand-embellished, and laced with symbolism. Painted with latex polymer and ink on leather, and embedded with hundreds of metal spikes, the work channels rebellion through texture and motif.

Animal print fuels the primal energy of the piece, a nod to instinct and defiance. Down the centre, a human spine is rendered in stark, expressive paint—an emblem of strength, courage, and conviction. It’s a visual declaration: to have a spine is to stand tall, to speak up, and to push back against oppressive systems.

Created in 2019, this garment isn’t just worn—it confronts. It’s a tribute to those who live boldly, a vessel for protest, and a celebration of art that bites back.
